Your Baby is Almost One

I know, I can't believe it either. One year old birthday sessions are some of my absolute favorite to capture. Now, as a mom, they've become even more special. Experiencing the first year of our baby's life is something I wish I could bottle up and relive somehow again and again. From the cuddly newborn naps, the crazy breastfeeding moments (like bleeding and cracking n!pples), sleepless nights to the first giggles and smiles I would do this year over again and again.
If you've started to plan your baby's first photoshoot, you have come to the right place. I'm going to share a little about how our session works if you choose to work together.
My first birthday sessions are a "two in one." We start by photographing your family. This can include up to six additional family members. (I've had grandparents want to join in on the fun and I believe in "the more the merrier"). We spend about 20-30 minutes capturing those sweet family moments. The first year is also special for the parents, because you've done it! - a year of parenthood! That also deserves celebration.
After the first part of our session, most parents will change their baby into a different outfit for the birthday portion. This can include a cake of some sorts (cupcakes, homemade cakes, and store bought cakes have all been featured) or some of their favorite things. I've had clients bring books, toys, stuffed animals, special decor, etc. A cake smash is NOT required, but it brings a lot of laughs and is usually a blast! This portion of the shoot ends up taking about 20 minutes and the rest of the time is reserved for clean-up.
These are some of the most precious photos I get to take for clients and I always feel so honored to be chosen. If you have any questions or ideas, I'd love to hear them!
